Process

The Candy & Candy design & project management process divides each project into key milestones; Briefing, Concept Sketches, Concept Developments, Concept Resolution, Detailed Design, Furniture Design, Procurement, Construction & Fitout and Final Dressing. The specific nature of each project determines how many of these milestones are relevant to each project.

From our very first project we have always ensured that the delivery of the project is the primary objective; as such we are able to produce the design, oversee the installation team, manage the contracts & budgets, operate an open book policy, bring our market expertise to the project, as well as provide an exceptionally talented team to work with clients on their projects.

Briefing

The first phase of any project is the brief.
The key objectives are outlined and inspirational imagery used to gauge the clients tastes and requirements. The design & construction programmes are also considered and the budget agreed within the final Briefing Stage.

Concept Sketches

The main body of the design process is divided into 3 distinct Concept Stages. Each stage is progressively more detailed & refined than the last with design boundaries pushed to exceed expectations. Space Planning and mood images are considered first along with the initial material palette ideas.

Concept Developments

The Concept Sketches are further developed and refined during this stage with more detailed sketches, computer models and joinery & furniture imagery. Plan layouts are finalised so that initial wall elevations can be produced and tested with the selected material palettes. This stage generally involves a number of meetings with the client to explore all of the ideas in each of the spaces.

Concept Resolution

Concept Resolution is when all the decisions the design team & client have made come together in one set of images, material palettes and plan & elevation drawings. This stage involves more comprehensive computer images or coloured perspectives plus the final selection of the finishes palette which again is married with the budget & programme constraints.

Detailed Design

Once the 3 Concept Stages have been approved by the client, the carefully selected professional team become more heavily involved so that the design can be fully co-ordinated across all disciplines and construction information can be produced.

Furniture Design

As almost all of our furniture and furnishings are individually tailored for specific clients, furniture, curtain & rug design forms a design phase all of its own. Working drawing packages are created and the design team liaise carefully to ensure that existing possessions are thoughtfully integrated.

Procurement

Procurement comes next, including tendering of all packages to obtain maximum value, procurement of all main contracts, liaison with artisans and master craftspeople, negotiation with all suppliers, travelling to select the perfect materials, whilst continually overseeing and monitoring items in production.

Construction & Fitout

Candy & Candy constantly monitor the quality of the works throughout the Fabrication, Construction & Fitout Phases. This ensures that each contractor and supplier is performing to their utmost ability in order to deliver the highest quality work. This close monitoring of the supply team helps to facilitate a smooth, seamless delivery of the project.

Final Dressing

Dressing is the final phase for which Candy & Candy uniquely offer a complete open book procurement process. As such, clients not only benefit from the 10% to 60% discounts associated with our immense buying power but are also spared the additional supplier commissions most Interior Designers supplement their fee with.
