Nick Candy named Entrepreneur of the Year at GQ Awards

Last night Nick Candy was named Entrepreneur of the Year at the celebrated GQ Man of the Year Awards in London.

Now in its thirteenth year, the GQ Magazine Man of the Year Awards recognise the very best in British talent and achievement with politicians, actors, musicians, designers, and businessmen all handpicked by the elite panel of GQ editorial staff, contributing editors and top industry experts.

With his rise to success well documented, Nick Candy, together with his brother Christian, has spent the past decade building a business and a brand that represents the epitome of luxury in design and property. Candy & Candy was born out of a £6,000 loan from the brothers’ grandmother – today the company is one of the world’s leading interior design and development management firms, recognised internationally as a pioneer of bespoke and innovative design.

After claiming the coveted title of Interior Designer of the Year in the 2010 Quintessentially Awards, Candy & Candy has once again been nominated for this celebrated award for the second year running.

The Quintessentially Awards celebrate outstanding contribution and service to the luxury sector, recognising brands and individuals who share the Quintessentially ethos of quality, style and service.

The 2011 winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 28th September in London, hosted by Sir David Frost.

Candy & Candy nominated for three awards from the Society of British Interior Design

The Candy & Candy design team has been nominated for three awards in the inaugural Society of British Interior Design (SBID) International Design Awards.

The award nominations are in two categories – Best Interior Design for One Hyde Park and a private client project, and Best Luxury Small Space Award for the Candy & Candy designed superyacht Candyscape II.

The awards, in just their first year, have attracted entries from over 22 countries and represent competitive design excellence across the world. The winners will be announced by Robin Gibb, CBE, at the Maison & Objet conference in Paris on 11th September.

McLaren Launch at One Hyde Park

McLaren Automotive opened the doors to its first dedicated McLaren retailer, McLaren London, with a star-studded celebration at One Hyde Park, Knightsbridge location on 21 June 2011. By the end of 2011 McLaren will have 35 bespoke retailers in 19 countries worldwide. All have been carefully selected by McLaren to offer the best in customer sales and service for a range of high-performance sports cars, beginning with the ground-breaking McLaren MP4-12C.

The opening, hosted by Vodaphone McLaren Mercedes drivers, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, and McLaren Group and McLaren Automotive Executive Chairman, Ron Dennis, celebrated ‘Defining Moments in Time’. Recognising the launch of the global network of McLaren car retailers and the arrival of the first ‘pure’ McLaren sports car, the event also presented past McLaren track success with iconic trophies and two of Lewis Hamilton’s race-winning Formula 1 cars.

Marketing team awarded best in industry

The marketing team at Candy & Candy were awarded In-House Marketing Team of the Year last night at the 19th annual Property Marketing Awards, fighting off strong competition from Savills, GVA and Symonds and Sampson.

The team were also shortlisted for Best Overall Marketing Residential Campaign for prestigious One Hyde Park: The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, London.

Organised by the Chartered Surveyors’ Company and in association with SJ Berwin and Estates Gazette, the awards recognise the innovation, creativity and success that the very best in the property industry has to offer.

Dedicated Rolex boutique opens at One Hyde Park

Time² has opened a boutique dedicated to Rolex, the largest of its kind in Europe, within London’s prestigious new residential development, One Hyde Park.

Owned and operated by Time2, the Rolex boutique will showcase the UK’s biggest selection of Rolex watches over 3,000 square feet of retail space. The interior design style of the store is understated utilising a variety of materials from multi-layered Italian aqua glass, to Crema Marfil Spanish marble flooring and Rolex Jubilee pattern embossed leather walls. Two dedicated private suites will be available in store for VIP clients and those seeking a little privacy when considering a purchase.

Chairman of Time², David Coleridge, commented on the new venture saying “London and specifically Knightsbridge has been at the forefront of luxury shopping for years. With the 2012 Olympics on the way, it was the opportune moment to open a major boutique in the capital. Our ambition is to make this the most enjoyable place in the world to buy a Rolex.”

One Hyde Park opens its doors for the first time in launch day celebration

Today saw the official launch of London’s most exclusive residential address and iconic building, One Hyde Park: The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, London. The 86 apartments, three retail boutiques, in four pavilions are positioned on the edge of Hyde Park and Knightsbridge with spectacular views over Hyde Park the Serpentine and towards Sloane Street and Harrods.

To celebrate this historic occasion, owner of the residential development, Project Grande (Guernsey) Limited invited 350 distinguished guests from the worlds of architecture, design, fashion, business and international royalty to a one-off event. Guests experienced the legendary services at neighbouring Mandarin Oriental Hotel London, where Michelin-starred chefs, Heston Blumenthal and Daniel Boulud prepared an exclusive three-course lunch menu to mark the opening of the development.

Staff at Candy & Candy are beginning the New Year in impressive new London headquarters after taking residence in a six storey Victorian property in Knightsbridge.

Rutland House is located in one of London’s few remaining private roads – Rutland Gardens. The six storey Victorian townhouse – now home to the Candy & Candy operation – offers 10,500 sq ft of internal space spread across six floors, as well as a substantial east facing terrace, original full height windows, and a number of grand reception and meeting rooms.

The interior of the building has been designed exclusively by the company’s own esteemed design team from retaining the ornate plastering to specifying the ornate sculptures and fine artwork.

Candy & Candy was recently named ‘Interior Designer of The Year 2010’ at the Quintessentially Awards, hosted by Claudia Winkleman at the Freemasons Hall on the 1st June 2010. The award recognises the company for its outstanding interior design projects and dedication to innovative design.

This was the first year of the Quintessentially Awards, which celebrates the finest purveyors of luxury living, dedicated service and excellent standards in all fields. The Awards were judged by Quintessentially members each of whom were given a vote per category. Nominees for the interior design category included a strong list of the world’s leading designers including; David Collins Studio, Russell Sage Studio, Christian Liagre, Nicholas Haslam, Brahm Interiors and Intarya.

Candyscape II wins accolade at Superyacht World Awards 2010

Candyscape II, a luxury 65 metre yacht designed by Candy & Candy in collaboration with Italian yacht manufacturer Viareggio Super Yachts, was named joint winner for ‘Best Displacement Motor Yacht 500 GT-1,299GT’ at the prestigious Superyacht World Awards 2010 – which took place at London’s Guildhall Hall on Saturday 22nd May 2010.

Judges explained that marking was extremely close, between the two top yachts, the 60-metre Lürssen-built Arkley and Candyscape II. Both yachts attracted an equal number of points to be declared joint winners. Candyscape II was particularly admired for her external deck areas and interior design, environmental engineering, and value for money, and scored highly for her practical layouts and excellent service areas.

News broadcaster, Mishal Hussain presented the “Neptune” trophy to Candy & Candy’s head of yacht and aviation design, Tim Murray in front of an audience of more than 500 guests.
