This was the first year of the Quintessentially Awards, which celebrates the finest purveyors of luxury living, dedicated service and excellent standards in all fields. The Awards were judged by Quintessentially members each of whom were given a vote per category. Nominees for the interior design category included a strong list of the world’s leading designers including; David Collins Studio, Russell Sage Studio, Christian Liagre, Nicholas Haslam, Brahm Interiors and Intarya.

Judges explained that marking was extremely close, between the two top yachts, the 60-metre Lürssen-built Arkley and Candyscape II. Both yachts attracted an equal number of points to be declared joint winners. Candyscape II was particularly admired for her external deck areas and interior design, environmental engineering, and value for money, and scored highly for her practical layouts and excellent service areas.

News broadcaster, Mishal Hussain presented the “Neptune” trophy to Candy & Candy’s head of yacht and aviation design, Tim Murray in front of an audience of more than 500 guests.

Well known for its luxury residential design projects, this new venture is the first time the design brand will showcase its expertise within a public space.

Candy & Candy has designed four areas at Home House's '21 Portman Place' comprising a bar and two lounge style rooms. The elegant design concept is contemporary to complement the existing House bar, by award winning architect Zaha Hadid, whilst being sympathetic to the eighteenth century splendour of the original Robert Adam, Grade I listed building.

Marrying the interior with naval architecture and exterior styling by Espen Oeino, the project combines elements of 1930's glamour with 21st Century chic and efficiency. Candyscape II is a complex design that raises the benchmark within its class for innovative design, quality and green credentials.

The 62 metre yacht accommodates 12 guests in six cabins and incorporates a host of intricate finishes from crystal chandeliers, leather hide floors and multiple wood finishes.

Set in a gloriously grand "Crystal Palace" on the shores of the Serpentine, over 300 distinguished guests attended from the worlds of architecture, design, fashion and business. Guests enjoyed the finest Perrier-Jouet champagne and gourmet dinner, followed by a silent and live auction, hosted by Lord Dalmeny of Sotheby's, plus cutting-edge cabaret by Medium Rare.

This worthwhile event also helps to raise awareness of the remarkable role that the Royal Parks undertake, carefully maintaining the buildings and grounds of the eight Royal Parks located in and around central London. Funds raised on the night will help to create a modern, sustainable, year-round education centre, with new classrooms, dipping ponds and nature trails, which will transform an area of Hyde Park that has been closed to the public for decades.

The charity has already made enormous in-roads but needs to raise significant funds in order to continue their important work. Candy & Candy was recently involved in the launch of SLF's fundraising initiative; 'Charity Challenge 2008'. This involved two teams of young trainees from KPMG and Deloittes going head-to-head in an Alan Sugar, apprentice style challenge. Nick Candy, Vice President of the foundation, was on hand to offer entrepreneurial advice and insight and also donated a trip to New York for the winning team.
